Food Box Delivery for Common Ground HS Families
Common Ground High School/New Haven Ecology Project
no volunteers - sign up to volunteerVolunteers are needed on Wednesdays at Common Ground!! Each week we delivery food boxes to CG families who have expressed food insecurity. We've had some turnover in our Family Food Box drivers as folx get called back to work. This is a great opportunity to get involved and directly support our community.
Driving is a one hour commitment from 1:30 - 2:30 on Wednesdays. We set our drivers up with addresses and everything they need to know. Volunteers simply have to drive and feel good knowing you are non-contact delivering nourishing food to our community.
DRIVING SHIFTS OPEN STARTING AUGUST 19TH
Wednesdays 1:30pm - 2:30pmWe also have an opportunity opening up for people to help pack the bags that are delivered to folks. It's a 2-hour window that happens earlier in the morning, and you would be part of a team of people assembling bread and other produce into bags (like corn, fruit, cheese, or cereal) for our families.

Grocery shopper
Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers of Greater New Haven
4 volunteers - sign up to volunteerThis is a low to no contact way of volunteering during this difficult time. We are looking for "personal shoppers" - these volunteers take a senior's shopping list, do her shopping, and return the groceries to her home. Either we pay or you pay and are immediately reimbursed via Venmo. We currently shop for about 10 clients weekly and this service keeps vulnerable folks out of the stores.

Help move supplies
Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS)
no volunteers - sign up to volunteerWe are looking for about 5 volunteers who would be willing to help us move supplies from 91 Clark St to the IRIS office this Friday, 8/28, from about 10-12:00.
The supplies are in a second floor apartment. They need to be brought down and loaded into a truck which will carry them to the IRIS office (about 5 min away). Then they need to be unloaded from the truck in the IRIS back parking lot into the front room of the office. Ideally, people could meet at 91 Clark Street, then follow the truck in their own vehicles and help again at the IRIS office (there won't be room for everyone to ride in the truck). Would be a huge help, we would be very appreciative.

Pantry to Pantry Drivers and Bag-Packers
Pantry to Pantry
no volunteers - sign up to volunteerVolunteer drivers are asked to make a regular 2-hour commitment on one or more days per week. The list is routed for maximum efficiency, and we provide gloves and wipes and instructions for completing no-contract dropoffs.
Volunteer bag-packers are added to an email list that gets a sign-up sheet each week with opportunities to pack bags. We offer a variety of times and there are necessary tasks that are suitable for volunteers with various levels of ability and strength. Families welcome!
